Geography Help

I just started an ambitious new world-building project and I'm working on a map. Does anyone know of a good primer on geographical features that will keep me from making mistakes like having rivers flow uphill. I know some things like that, and how swamps obviously need to be in wet places like near deltas and deserts are often on the leeward side of a mountain range, but I feel like there is probably so much that I don't know without realizing that I don't know it.

A Magical Society: Ecology and Culture from Expeditious Retreat Press gets some good reviews and extensively discusses mapping, geology, ecology etc. It's published as a roleplaying resource but serves as a general worldbuilding resource as well. I've generally found XRP's material to be well-researched and helpful.

Also interested in this, if anyone has recs! I wish there were a good map generating program kind of aimed for creating fictional world, not only for terrain logic but the flora/fauna that feasibly exists in different areas.
