Resources and other ideas

Thanks to everyone who set up the "consultations" system. I think that's a great idea. I've added a "Resources" section to the profile, with a link to the "Consultations" post, so people can continue to comment and add themselves as a reference whenever they like.

Does anyone have any other ideas on how to make this community more useful to writers? Can anyone think of any other resources that would be good to link to, or create ourselves? Please let me know if you can think of anything, or have any input on how this community should be run. :)

I think it depends on what you want the comm to do/be. There are still plenty of general writing topics we haven't covered yet, so there's still that ground to cover. Do you want to do any workshopping of original fic here? Maybe have flash original fic challenges? Or prompt posts? Another good resource post might be writing manuals, websites, etc. that we find useful (and which ones to avoid!).

I like all of these ideas. I especially love prompts and I would have fun providing them if serria would like to host them here too.

Oh yeah, definitely. I don't really have a specific direction for this community - just that it should be discussion focused, and I think that's what we talked about when we were talking about making such a community on Fandom Secrets. But I thought it'd be convenient to link to good resources for everyone involved, or for people to recommend programs, etc (or as you said, give warning against!) So if anyone can think of anything worthwhile, it might merit a link from the profile.

I think challenges, workshopping and prompts would be fun, too. As long as it doesn't mean people are posting fics for reviews rather than talking (or critiquing, showing samples, etc.) As far as I'm concerned, anything writing-related goes, provided we can talk about it.

I would have fun providing prompts regularly. What do you think is reasonable? I could easily do it daily but I'm afraid that might be a bit spammy. I could do weekly instead if that seems better.

Also, I was planning on premiering the Friday Rants and Raves posts that we talked about tomorrow. I think I have some celebrating I can do with our little group.

Hmm, maybe weekly prompts? I think it'd be fun, but there are other communities (such as the one I affiliated with) that are dedicated to daily prompts. But whatever you think. :D
