I just can't imagine writing a story or a novel that I didn't intend to share with someone. Maybe I wouldn't intend to publish it, but I can't imagine writing a story or a novel that only I read.

See, I knew there were people like that but I didn't realize that they would find my old position of never wanting anyone to so much as glance at my stories so incomprehensible.

I can't say I understand your position fully since that's just not the way my mind works but I accept that this is a very common viewpoint.
