Welcome to write_away, a community for people in all corners of the writing field to get together and talk about our craft. This community was founded upon realization that, though there were communities for people to post their work, there wasn't really a place for people to simply discuss writing. That's the goal of this community: to talk about writing with other writers. Topics can include any aspect of writing, whether professionally or just for fun. Cliches and tropes, grammar, publishing, editing, favorite fonts, characterization, pet peeves, or even just bouncing ideas around - this is the place!

The rules, found in the profile, can be summed up as: be nice, use common sense when posting, and stay on topic. Remember, this is a discussion community, not a place to post your fic!

Finally, I am currently looking for volunteers to help mod this place. Please feel free to contact me if you would like to be a mod! Any help is appreciated in making this community look nice and run smoothly.

I do not have time to volunteer to mod, but I've modded communities before, and I have a few suggestions that might be helpful. Feel free to ignore. :)

Especially in the beginning to drum up participation, you might consider making a weekly post yourself about some aspect of writing until people in the comm start to feel comfortable enough to do so themselves. Every comm needs a little ice-breaker period, if that makes sense. It might also help to make a post with examples of the kinds of posts that you're looking for in this community to jumpstart posting. :)

I've decided to go ahead and volunteer to mod. I have too much time on my hands anyway and might as well do something useful with it.

I can help follow through on lunabee's suggestion and make some posts to start discussions too.
